I’m currently watching Game 3 of the World Series of the Phillies vs. the Rays, and they keep touting this stat of “100 season of futility” referring to the fact that in 25 years, the four Philadelphia sports teams (Eagles, Flyers, 76ers, and Phillies) have not won a national championship since the 76ers did it in 1983.\u00a0 I’ve put together a chart which lists, side by side, each of the teams’ records along with a color code for how far they advanced in the playoffs if they made it in that year.<\/p>\n

If you’re counting the 2004 NHL lockout year as a “season of futility”, then indeed we are at 100.\u00a0 If you don’t, well, you’ve got 99 problem and the NHL lockout ain’t one.<\/p>\n

The years refer to when the championship for that game was played.\u00a0 So, the 2005 Eagles stat refers to the 2004 regular season and Super Bowl XXXIX, where they lost to the New England Patriots 24-21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
